A Self-Made Man
"I'm a self-made man," he began to explain.
He began to tell us, he couldn't refrain.
He was proud and pleased as he spoke of himself.
His chest puffed out, He turned his head right then left.
He was making sure we all understood.
His self sufficiency was his manhood.
No credit was given to His Creator.
He displayed himself as a one man theater.
As I looked up and down of this prideful man.
I knew he would never see or understand.
A self-made man just isn't built very well.
Inferior materials from a marked down sale.
Thrown together all too quickly,
And without God's help, I think a bit sickly.
When inspection takes place, what will he say?
No approval seal, no call for delays.
The foundation that's laid is totally wrong.
Faulty power source that doesn't belong.
He will surly fall, this self made kind of man.
He built himself entirely with the wrong plan.
